Vision Statement:

At St Anne's, our aim and vision towards PE is to deliver a high quality, broad and balanced curriculum as well as providing challenging and fun sessions for our children using the correct resources to aid them in their learning and development. PE should be an integral part of the whole school curriculum and one that staff, pupils and parents understand and can contribute to. It can ensure our children are physically and mentally healthy and can develop to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens of the future.

The children will apply our key SCORE Values into their lessons - Self Esteem, Commitment, Organisation, Resilience and Excellence

Our PE curriculum will improve emotional well-being, foster positive behaviours and develop key skills such as leadership, confidence, social and team building skills. This also mirrors perfectly our own school Mission Statement; "Learn To Love and Love To Learn.....in Readiness for Life".

Every term, our school offers the opportunity for children to participate in different sporting clubs before and after school times to broaden their horizons and engage with a wide variety of sports and opportunities. This will help encourage more children to continue playing sport as well as creating a pathway towards competitive and elite sport. We also hope this encourages more of our children to develop a love, passion and enthusiasm for PE,  Sport, and Dance. Across the academic year, the children in different year groups will take part in a variety of sporting tournaments and events competing with different schools. It provides our pupils with opportunities to participate in competitive sports and activities both in and beyond the PE curriculum.

My Thoughts About PE (Mr Burton):

I am extremely passionate about my subject because it is fun, rewarding and contributes to a child's professional development and their own wellbeing. PE enables all students to enjoy and succeed in many kinds of physical activity. PE helps students develop personally and socially. They work as individuals, in groups and in teams, developing concepts of fairness and of personal and social responsibility.

Sporting Events:

In June, some of pupils represented St Anne's by taking part in the annual Sutton Shield football tournament. St Anne's finished in 1st place and Oliver was awarded player of the tournament!

Due to the achievements of winning the Sutton Shield tournament, our team were invited by the LFC Foundation to take part in a football tournament at the LFC Training Ground in Kirkby. St Anne's finished top of their group and there was also a visit from a former LFC player.

Some of our Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils were invited to a local inter school football tournament at Rectory primary school. The children took part against local primary schools. St Anne's finished 2nd place in the tournament.

Our Sports Ambassadors helped to raise money for PE in school by hosting a Penalty Shootout. We managed to raise £76!

Some of our Year 3 and 4 pupils took part in a Tag Rugby tournament which was organised by the Saints Community Development Foundation. The children had a fantastic afternoon learning about Tag Rugby, different drills and how to work together as a team.

Our children had been practising and working extremely hard in their football afterschool club in preparation for the Sutton Shield football tournament. The children represented the school extremely well and demonstrated all of our SCORE Values. St Anne's finished 2nd place in the competition.

Pupil Voice:

Recently, some of our children completed a pupil voice all about PE at St Anne's. This was to see what they enjoy about PE at St Anne's and what needs to be improved as well as plan what sporting activities we can introduce later on in the school year.

I enjoy PE because it is fun and also you are exercising and keeping healthy - Harry.

Our teacher encourages us to participate and helps us do difficult skills by showing us - Zach.

I would like to see more football, cricket, dancing and swimming - Bobby.

I feel safe in PE because our teachers keep us safe and free from danger - Kian.

For extra physical activities at lunchtime, I would like to play dodgeball - Alyssa.

To raise the profile of PE, I would like us to talk positively and play sports that everyone likes and enjoys - Alyssa.

To raise the profile of PE, I would like us to participate in football tournaments - Kian.
