KS2 Our Art & Design Curriculum
During Key Stage 2, Art and Design is about fostering children’s creativity and imagination by building on their knowledge, skills and understanding of materials and processes, through providing more complex activities. Children’s experiences help them to understand the diverse roles and functions of Art and Design in the world around them.
Key Stage 2 children will learn to:
-
create sketch books to record their observations and use them to review and revisit ideas.
-
improve their mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture with a range of materials.
-
about great artists, architects and designers in history.

Enrichment Enhancements:

Year 5 were lucky enough to visit Antony Gormley’s Another Place, Crosby Beach as part of their Art and Design topic - Sculptures. During the visit, the children used a range of materials and skills to observe and record their findings. The children later revisited their ideas to create their own statues, using Antony Gormley’s work as inspiration.
