Our experiences to enhance our learning

We've been talking PANTS!

As part of our ongoing work to keep children safe, we have been learning about the PANTS rule. This helps children understand that they have the right to say “No” and that they can always talk to a trusted adult if something makes them feel worried, upset, or uncomfortable.

Anti-Bullying Week 2025 - Power For Good

During Anti-Bullying Week 2025, we spent time thinking about how we could use our Power For Good to support our learning and promote kindness across our school.

Throughout the week, children took part in age-appropriate activities and discussions focused on respect, empathy, and inclusion. We explored what bullying is, how it can make others feel, and the importance of speaking up and seeking help. Pupils also reflected on how small actions can make a big difference and how everyone has the power to create a positive and supportive school community.

Odd Socks Day

To help raise awareness of bullying and to celebrate our uniqueness, we all enjoyed wearing our odd socks! We know they have to be kind and choose respect.

UK Parliament Week

UK Parliament Week provided an opportunity to connect our children with the people, places and actions that make up our democracy. It encouraged them to explore how they fit into the picture and how they can have their say, whatever their age.

During the week, KS2 pupils took part in a range of short, engaging activities designed to develop their understanding of democracy, decision-making and representation. Children explored key ideas such as voting, debating, and how laws are made, and discussed how they can make a difference within their school and wider community.

As part of our learning, pupils also received a video message from our local Member of Parliament, which helped bring their learning to life. This gave children a valuable insight into the role of an MP and how Parliament works in practice, as well as the importance of listening to different viewpoints.

UK Parliament Week supported our wider curriculum aims by promoting active citizenship, respect, and an understanding of British values.

Royal Navy

On Thursday 4th December, we welcomed Dave from the Royal Navy into school.

During the visit, children explored the role of the Royal Navy and learned about the wide range of individual jobs carried out by those who serve. Pupils were introduced to new vocabulary and worked together to design and make rockets, which were then launched on the playground.

The children also took part in a variety of practical activities similar to those carried out on Royal Navy ships and submarines. Through games and challenges, pupils were tested on their knowledge of different parts of a ship and developed their listening and teamwork skills as they followed simple commands.

The visit was an engaging and hands-on experience, giving children a valuable insight into life in the Royal Navy while developing cooperation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Altru Drama Performances

During the Autumn term, we were very fortunate to welcome Altru Drama to our school for two engaging and thought-provoking performances.

The first performance, Game Changers, encouraged children to think carefully about the apps they use and to understand how technology can have both positive and negative impacts, depending on how it is used. A strong emphasis was placed on staying safe online and making responsible choices.

The second performance supported our anti-bullying work and linked to this year’s theme, Time to Be Different. It promoted kindness, respect, and celebrating individuality, helping pupils reflect on their own behaviour both online and offline.IMG_1067[1] (1).JPG

Rock Kidz

We were delighted to welcome Rock Kidz on Tour into school for an exciting and inspiring visit. Rock Kidz on Tour gives primary schools across the UK the opportunity to raise the profile of wellbeing and PSHE through the power of music.

During their visit, the children learned the song “Kindness (Live It Loud)”, which shared powerful messages about kindness, respect, and inclusion, encouraging pupils to look after themselves and others.
