History

Vision and aims for teaching History

WE ARE HISTORIANS! Our history curriculum will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It will inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past. Our children will be encouraged to ask  perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. History unlocks secrets of the past and informs our future.

History Ambassadors 

In each class there are one or two History ambassadors, these children have been chosen to represent this particular subject as they show a flair and enthusiasm for History. Please speak to them about their learning. 

Local History

Our History curriculum is very bespoke to allow for lots of local History and local links to be made and incorporated. We have received the Heritage Schools Award from Historic England for our local History.

What is the Heritage Schools Award? 

• The Heritage Schools Award is an opportunity for your school to gain recognition for all your local history / heritage work .
• Teachers complete the online application process by submitting evidence to meet three key criteria.
• Schools that meet the criteria are awarded a Heritage Schools Plaque.
