Personal Development

Personal Development Vision

St Anne’s Catholic Primary School is a happy vibrant Christian community where diversity and individuality are celebrated. We are passionate in our pursuit of excellence in all aspects of school life. We nurture and inspire children to develop confidence and resilience in an environment where efforts are valued and all children flourish.

Our school vision and ethos is strongly supported and embedded in the delivery of our Personal Development curriculum, rooted in Gospel Values. At our school we are committed to ensuring that the emotional and social needs of all our children are met within our school environment and beyond, and we support the development of children’s health and wellbeing, self-esteem and confidence. We have strong relationships with our children, their families and the local community. We then use this knowledge to adapt and provide a bespoke personal development curriculum that meets the needs of the children.

As part of providing a broad and balanced PSHE curriculum, we nurture and support the spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development in young children and promote the fundamental British values in young lives. We support children to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives, and become responsible citizens. We recognise that our school vision is central to this learning and should be at the heart of whole-school development with the recognition that every individual is made in the image and likeness of God.

At St Anne's, we use a holistic approach to Personal Development and know that all curriculum subjects and learning experiences support the children's overall development. Some of the curriculum subjects, offer more discrete learning opportunities to support the National Curriculum expectations. The subject leaders of these subjects, work together to plan and deliver a rich variety of learning to support the growth of each individual child in our school community. These subjects are: PSHE, PATHS, RE and RSHE These curriculum areas are also supported by our Therapeutic Schools approach, our Pastoral offer, SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development) and provision for British Values. Personal Development is timetabled weekly across the school.
