A New Arrival.

Date: 10th Apr 2018 @ 8:19pm

Recently, something very exciting happened…

We have been greeted by some yellow fluffy friends! Over the last week, Reception have been working extremely hard to watch and care for the newly hatched chicks. So now they are a little bigger, we took the opportunity to cuddle them until our hearts content. Whilst taking a look, we discovered that those with brown feathers are females and those with yellow are males.

It was a great opportunity for the children to ask questions about the food that they eat and how they hatch from the egg. When returning to Nursery we watched an episode of Come Outside, helping us to learn more about chickens and the way they lay their eggs. In order to build on the children’s interest further, we have tasted different types of eggs over the past couple of weeks – boiled, scrambled and scotch. What a great opportunity for learning!
